Chris Schnegelberger has taught Kindergarten here at Immanuel Lutheran for 21 years, and taught first grade for 3 years in St. Louis, Mo. She is a graduate of Concordia University, Seward, Nebraska with a Bachelor of Science in Education Degree. Mrs. Schnegelberger has been married to Pastor Kent Schnegelberger for 38 years. They have 4 children, 11 grandchildren (with number 12 coming in February).
She enjoys spending time with the family, quilting, tatting, and spending relaxing time at the cabin near Red Feather Lakes.
Why is Mrs. Schnegelberger passionate about teaching at Immanuel?
"This is my 21st year teaching Kindergarten. I enjoy teaching this age, and watching the huge changes that happen over the year, as they learn to use the numbers to count, add, subtract, and recognize the letters and sounds to read words and make sentences. They are eager to share the Bible Stories with me, and I am so excited to see how well they retain the lessons we share in our Bible Story time."What motivated her to become a teacher?
"I wanted to be a teacher from a very young age. I dearly loved my 1st and 2nd grade teacher, and so wanted to be like her. I attended First Lutheran School in Fort Smith, Arkansas from first to ninth grade. I can’t imagine being in school without hearing about Jesus, and knowing that He was in the center of all that we did. That is what I want for all the children I teach — to know Jesus and trust Him to be with them as they learn and grow in all areas of Kindergarten."
And Jesus said “Let the little children come to Me and do not hinder them, for the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Mark 10:14
Jesus said, “Everything is possible for those who believe.” Mark 9:23
And we know that in all things, God works for the good of those who love Him. Romans 8:28
As a teacher, this first scripture reminds me to keep the children coming to Jesus, learning about his love, and trusting in Him to help them, love them and forgive them.
The second verse reminds me that with God’s help, it is possible! (And so much more!)
I have experienced God’s promise in Romans 8:28 so many times in my personal life, and in the classroom. PRAISE THE LORD
