Preschool and Kindergarten

Immanuel's Early Childhood program offers 5 classes for children from 3 years to 6 years old.  Terrific 3's, Fantastic 4's, Fabulous 5's, Morning Kindergarten, and Full Day Kindergarten.  God's love is the motivating force in our curriculum. The Bible provides orientation for all subjects and learning experiences.  Children attend chapel on Wednesday and have Jesus Time the other days of the week.  They hear Bible stories, do activities, and practice sharing the love of Jesus. Our early childhood students are paired with a middle school chapel buddy and have the opportunity to read, worship, and have fun together.

Terrific 3's

Our Terrific 3's class is a child's first introduction to preschool and focuses on socialization, sharing, and getting along with others.  We work to develop small motor skills, have a joyful outlook on school, and a love of Jesus.  The class meets two days a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  Children must be 3 prior to September 15th.

Fantastic 4's

Our Fantastic 4's class learns about shapes, numbers, and will be exposed to the alphabet through fun and hands-on learning. We will prepare for Kindergarten by practicing our listening skills, extending our attention span, and developing our fine motor skills. The class meets three days a week on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Children must be 4 prior to September 15th.

Fabulous 5's

Our Fabulous 5's class is an expansion of the 4 year-old class.  Children in this class cover all the same topics, but with more in-depth activities and more hands-on experiences.  We will further explore letters and numbers.  The class meets four days a week on Monday through Thursday. Children must be 5 prior to December 15 and/or have attended preschool before.  Admission to the Fabulous 5's will be determined by the director.

Kindergarten

It is our goal that Kindergarten children students move comfortably into first grade with the following skills:

  • Good understanding of letters, consonant sounds, short vowel sounds and words, and sight words.
  • Recognition of numerals one to 31, and count past 100
  • Beginning concept of addition and subtraction
  • Ability to speak and write good sentences

Kindergarten students have weekly music, art, physical education, Spanish, and library time.  They experience field trips, have class theme parties, and participate in show and share time.  We offer a morning and a full day option for Kindergarten.  The core academic activities are included in the morning schedule.  Full day students have a weekly computer class and other enrichment activities in the afternoon.

Placement of Your Child into Kindergarten

Children enrolling in Kindergarten must be five years of age by the first day of school for the year they enroll.  Our teachers will schedule a time for your child to complete the Developmental Observation from the Gesell Institute of Human Development to insure proper placement.  This is NOT an intelligence test, but rather helps our teachers assess your child's developmental age. This test has proven to be very effective to gauge a child's readiness for Kindergarten and success when they start school.

Living Our Faith

All students in class on Wednesday mornings participate in weekly chapel and are grouped into mixed-age chapel families.  The afternoon Fabulous 5's class attends chapel on Wednesday afternoons.  Offerings are given to a selected monthly chapel project and have included Nation-to-Nation Ministries, Life Choices Pregnancy Center, House of Neighborly Service, ILC Pastor's Pantry, and Samaritan's Purse.  Often our students create and write thank you notes to acknowledge special service to our school.

At Christmas time, many classes collect gifts for needy Loveland area families. Our church and school prepares shoe boxes that share the love of Jesus to children around the world though Operation Christmas Child.

Homework

There is no homework in Preschool and a minimal amount in Kindergarten.  We do encourage parents to reinforcement the concepts they are learning at school and to read aloud to their children regularly.
