Immanuel is excited to announce big changes to the technology being used in our classrooms this year!
Here's the Quick Run Down:
Over the summer we made numerous upgrades to our systems so that ILS students from Kindergarten to 8th grade have access to new learning tools.
Chromebooks have been rolled out for every student in grades 5-8. Teachers have already setup Google for Education classrooms for several subjects. The students can see their upcoming tests and assignments, turn papers in without printing, and collaborate with other students in real time.
Nearly 80 iPads were re-purposed and re-deployed into grades K-4, music classrooms, and enrichment classrooms. More than 150 apps have been installed and are now in the hands of the teachers and students. Students will be using the iPads as a tool to work on spelling, math facts, books of the Bible, reading, geography, science, and more. The youngest grades also have new headphones so that they can utilize sound with their iPads without interrupting other classmates.
Smartboards are used in all classrooms and the computer lab PCs were updated so that we can continue to offer typing classes and support online testing.
We also made upgrades that protect the students while they learn to navigate the Internet. A new firewall and content filter was installed to help keep students from areas of the Internet that are not appropriate for children.
One final upgrade is still in the works. We will be increasing our Internet bandwidth. Fiber is being pulled into our building, which will increase our bandwidth fourfold! Future upgrades at Immanuel will be easier and faster.
We are excited to see these new technology tools in use and we look forward to watching your students grow. We also value your feedback so that we can continue to effectively teach future generations how to use technology while remaining rooted in Christ.
