We have a lot of searches going on in parallel! Many, many thanks to school board members, teachers, staff, and others who are helping with the search efforts.
Last Thursday, we had several interviews for our middle school teacher opening. and we had another one last night. Again, we were impressed by the talented, passionate, experienced people that God brought to us. We are chasing down a few questions with some of the candidates, and looking into a couple of last-minute submissions, but we believe that we can extend an offer for this position within the next week.
We have been making progress in our search for an interim principal in parallel with our permanent principal search effort. Last Wednesday, we interviewed two local candidates who seemed very well-qualified. We were impressed with both candidates. We are following up a few more leads, but we hope we can fill this position in the very near future.
We had a productive principal search team meeting last Wednesday. I've just been so busy that I haven't been able to write up a blog post about it. Then I was gone on the Father/Daughter campout over the weekend...I have quite the Jet-Ski story now, ask me about it sometime!
Anyway, at last week's meeting we:
We have received more detailed information on more than a dozen candidates for principal. The search team will review this information at our next meeting and determine whether any next steps are warranted with any of the candidates. The team has also finalized the description of the principal position that we will be using to evaluate the candidates.
Please keep praying for God to help us fill this vacancy with the right person and (if we may be so bold as to ask) quickly!
Kristen DenBoer, our part-time middle school teacher has decided to leave Immanuel and pursue an advanced degree. Kristen was a key member of our middle school teaching staff and she positively impacted the lives of numerous students and families. We will miss her but we wish her well in her new endeavors.
That does leave us with an opening on our staff. If you know of any qualified individuals that might be interested in this position, please have them contact us. Here is a description of the position:
The search team for our principal will meet on Tuesday this week to kick off the search for our full-time called principal. Please keep this meeting in your prayers!

Pastor Glen and I met with the teaching staff on Thursday and there was a very good turnout, probably 3/4 of staff was there and Liz and Terri. Church staff apparently was invited too and most of them came. Aaron Reeves (school board member) came as well and he said some very warm and encouraging things to the teachers when introducing himself.
Attached below is the description of the ministry position that I wrote for our district's Education Executive to help him drum up interest for our principal position. If you know of anyone interested and qualified, please have them check out this description and then contact us.

I am happy to announce that Elizabeth Grimm has agreed to be our acting school administrator this summer. We are still working out some details around job description and such, but our priority is to have someone identified as the "face of the school" and able to help us conduct business as usual by being generally available during the remainder of the summer. Mrs. Grimm will be able to start in this position this tomorrow.
I think we now have enough people for the call committee to search for a new principal. I wanted to keep the committee relatively small, but I also wanted to make sure we had representation from across both church and school and a healthy demographic mix. If you were hoping to be asked to participate but were not, I apologize, but I hope that you will contribute to the process by sharing your thoughts and ideas with a member of the committee.
The people that I've asked to be on the committee are:
