A Message From Mrs. Gilbert & Mrs. Paterson
We continue working on speaking up assertively in our social/emotional curriculum this week. Asking for what they need or want in a respectful, assertive way helps your child get along with others at home and at school.
The Terrific 3’s had a wonderful week learning about Jesus going back to Heaven. We discussed that Jesus rose up into the clouds and the angels spoke to his disciples telling them that someday Jesus would come back. We made a fun ascension craft from paper in which Jesus rose up into the clouds! We also continued our discussion about the life cycles of ladybugs and butterflies. They are having a blast looking for changes in our insects each time they come to school. The ladybugs are almost fully developed and soon we will have butterflies. All of the caterpillars have formed their chrysalis’ and we are waiting patiently for the final part of their metamorphosis! Ask your child about the awesome butterfly life cycle snack we had at school!
The Fantastic 4’s are also discussing the ascension of Jesus to Heaven this week. We made an awesome ascension craft out of a paper cup that really helped demonstrate this to the students. Look in your child’s backpack this week to see this awesome craft! We had fun talking about the different stages of the ladybug and butterfly life cycle. The students are really getting into it and can recite back the life cycle with no help! It is awesome to see how much fun they are having! We made caterpillars on leaves that required lots of fine motor skills as well as a butterfly finger puppet that you might see “flying” around your house! We had fun with our butterfly life cycle snack. Ask your child to tell you all about it!
The 5’s have had an awesome week exploring the life cycles of caterpillars and ladybugs. The children finished illustrating their Caterpillar Song book. I hope you enjoy reading these at home! The children were so excited to complete each day of the life cycle of the butterfly. We also had a butterfly life cycle snack and ate eggs, caterpillars, chrysalises and butterflies! (mini marshmallows, gummy worms, pretzel nuggets and butterfly shaped crackers)
Reminders-The last library day for our 4’s and 5’s is this Wednesday, April 25th. Please remember to bring back your library books so you will not be charged for them. Field trips are coming up soon! The 3’s field trip is May 1st, the 4’s on May 2nd, and the 5’s on May 3rd. Please remember that the 5’s do not have school on May 2nd. Information on the field trips and permission forms were sent out a few weeks ago. Please get those permission slips and money in ASAP so your child can attend. Preschool graduation is scheduled for Wednesday, May 16th at 9:15 (3’s), 10:00 (4’s), and 11:00 (5’s). This is the last day of preschool for all of our students. It’s hard to believe summer break is right around the corner! Have a great weekend!
