Throughout scripture we see that instrumental and vocal music are a fundamental means of expressing our love and praise to God. All grade levels at Immanuel have special music and theater programs.
Preschool and Kindergarten Christmas Program
Our preschool and kindergarten children and teachers prepare a Christmas program that includes singing favorite Christmas songs, playing chimes and hand bells, group and individual recitations, and re-telling the Christmas story. Our youngest Immanuel students dress as Mary, Joseph, wise men, sheep, shepherds, and angels to tell the story of baby Jesus coming into our world to be our Savior.
1st - 3rd Grade Christmas and Spring Programs
Our younger elementary musical programs include many small character parts, narrator parts, large group singing, duets/trio group singing, acting, sets/props, and costumes.
4th - 5th Grade Christmas and Spring Programs
Our upper elementary musical programs include many small and large character parts, narrator parts, large group singing, duets/trio group singing, acting, dancing, sets/props, and costumes.
6th - 8th Grade Middle School Spring Musical
Recent middle school musical productions include Willie Wonka, Music Man, Twinderella, and Annie. These productions give our students the opportunity to perform on stage through singing, dancing, and acting. They may also work behind the scenes with costumes, sets, lighting, props, or stage management. The musical is presented for two nights in the April or May timeframe in a dinner theater or dessert theater format.
3rd - 5th Grade Learn to play the Recorder
Immanuel students begin to play the recorder in 3rd grade. This provides an excellent introduction to reading music, developing the fingering on an instrument, and playing/staying together as a group.
5th - 8th Grade Band
Andrew Vogt leads our band and provides individual lessons to students. There is a fee to participate in band, which is payable to Mr. Vogt by the 15th of each month. Students may choose from flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, and percussion. Oboe, French horn, piano, and other instruments will be considered by request from parents. Sorry, no guitar or violin.
Students will need a functioning, quality instrument. Instruments may be rented or purchased from area music stores. Many quality instruments can also be located through the internet, newspaper, or word of mouth. A wire fold-up stand and a music book are also required. Contact Mr. Vogt for more information.
