By the end of July, it can feel like every school decision should already be locked in. Supply lists are showing up on kitchen counters, activity calendars are filling in, and dinner conversations keep drifting toward the first day of school. Plenty of families are still working out where their kid actually belongs this fall, and that’s more normal than it feels. Maybe you just moved to Loveland, or maybe you enrolled somewhere back in spring and haven’t felt great about it since. The practical stuff matters, but so does the gut feeling you get picturing your kid walking through the door each morning. A good school leaves you confident your child will be known well enough that a teacher notices both the wins and the struggles, and that’s hard to gauge from a website alone.
We offer personalized visits so families can walk the campus, see actual classrooms, meet our teachers and ask whatever questions that are specific to their kid. From there, enrollment moves into an application, and for students entering first through eighth grade, a short one-on-one assessment that helps us understand how to best support them once they’re here.

School comparisons can turn into a pile of programs, schedules and tuition numbers pretty fast. Those details matter, but they’re a lot easier to weigh once you’ve decided what your kid actually needs from the year ahead, and that’s worth sitting with before you start comparing brochures.
We treat character, relationships, responsibility and purpose as part of education itself, not something set aside for a separate class period.
What we’re really after is a place where a kid isn’t just accounted for on a roster, where a teacher notices who they are and how their faith and their schoolwork actually connect day to day. We’re picky about the curriculum we bring into our classrooms, leaning toward programs that have proven out with real kids in real classrooms rather than whatever’s trending, and using them to build academics, critical thinking and social skills together instead of treating any one of them like an afterthought.
Ages We Serve: Toddler Through High School
Our programs start with toddler care at twelve months and carry through high school, so a family can stay in one community as their kids grow, even as each stage keeps its own focus.The toddler program is built around security, relationships and early development.
- Preschool serves children ages three through five in age-specific classes using Heggerty phonemic awareness, Handwriting Without Tears and Second Step social-emotional learning, alongside play, hands-on activities and daily expressions of faith.
- Elementary students get core academics plus Bible, technology, music, art and physical education, with weekly chapel and service woven into the week.
- Middle school runs sixth through eighth grade with teachers adjusting instruction to where each student actually is, not a single fixed pace for the whole room, and kids work with advanced math options, hands-on science, research writing and novel studies, plus electives, arts, athletics and service.
- High school runs on a hybrid format, most coursework flexible with one required in-person day each Wednesday, and families who want more structure can access additional content coaching and a supervised workspace.
Availability shifts by program and grade, so reach out directly rather than assuming the window’s closed.
Why We Keep Classes Small
Parents hear a lot about class size, but the real benefit is more personal than a ratio printed in an admissions packet. A smaller classroom gives a teacher more chances to notice how a kid showed up that morning, where a lesson stopped clicking, or when a student is ready for something that pushes further.
That attention matters even more during a transition, when a new student is still learning the routines and figuring out what each teacher expects.
Our families tell us often that teachers know their kids personally and that the school feels like an extension of home. Small classes don’t erase every challenge a student runs into, but those moments rarely slip by unnoticed. Teachers can step in while a problem’s still small and loop parents in before a rough week turns into a rough semester.
You Don’t Have to Be Lutheran
You don’t need a Lutheran background to enroll here. Many of our students don’t come from one, and we welcome families across a wide range of faith traditions. Chapel, service, and how kids are encouraged to treat each other all carry a Christian foundation regardless of what church your family attends. If you don’t have a home church currently, your student is of course still welcome at Immanuel Lutheran School. We offer small class sizes and a classically inspired curriculum to all who are seeking quality private education.
A school’s culture shows up in the small moments more than anywhere else. Listen to how teachers talk to kids in the hallway, and notice whether students seem comfortable asking for help. Those small things tell you more than any mission statement could.
A Visit Still Tells You a Lot
A school visit after the school year has started gives you a chance to see our campus in action, with students in class and teachers engaged in their daily routines. It also gives you an opportunity to meet our staff, get a feel for the school community and talk through your child’s needs while seeing what a typical school day looks like.
Come with details ready. Share the subjects your kid enjoys, where they’ve struggled, and the kind of classroom where they’ve done their best work. Honest information helps both sides figure out whether this is the right fit, even the parts that feel like they might work against you.
Ask how the first few weeks go for a new student, how teachers keep in touch with families, and how academic placement gets decided.
The whole point of the visit is clarity. You should walk away with a real sense of how we’d respond to your child as an individual, and what the next steps actually look like.
The Practical Stuff, Care Hours and Tuition
A school can feel exactly right and still need to fit into your family’s daily life.
We offer before-school care starting at 7am and after-school care until 6:00pm on school days. We also have full childcare from 7am-6pm, helpful for parents with part-time preschool students. Childcare over holiday breaks can be contracted as well.
Tuition varies by grade and program, and we share current rates by request along with limited need-based tuition assistance for eligible students. We also work with ACE Scholarships for eligible students in kindergarten through twelfth grade, though traditional tuition assistance doesn’t apply to toddler care, childcare, preschool or summer camp, and high schoolers are only eligible through ACE.
